Zack McLanahan Wins Mel Barr Award

September 30, 2014

The 2014 International Boatbuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) started off with a bang for the T-H Marine Team on Tuesday morning when aftermarket sales manager Zack McLanahan was presented with the prestigious Mel Barr Award for improvement of the marine industry.

The Mel Barr Award is presented annually by the National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) and recognizes an individual who has contributed to the improvement of the industry through personal involvement.  It was established in 1967 and is named in the memory of marine rep Mel Barr, one of the founders of NMRA and its first president.

Zack joined T-H Marine in 1995 following a long career with Wellington Leisure Products in Madison, GA. Zack started in the marine industry in 1973 as sales manager for Wellington, rising to Vice President of Marine Sales in 1990. Zack accepted the opportunity to become part of the T-H Marine family to direct the aftermarket sales effort in July of 1995 and moved to Huntsville with his wife, Patti in 1998. A graduate of Georgia Southern University’s School of Business, Zack has been involved in the marine industry for over 35 years serving in various capacities as a committee member and on the Board of Directors of NMMA as well as NMDA.

Zack will officially retire from T-H Marine at the end of 2014, marking the end to a truly remarkable career in the marine industry. We join the NMRA in congratulating Zack for receiving this well-deserved award. T-H Marine surely wouldn't be where we are today in the marine aftermarket without the years of service and guidance that Zack provided.
