September 16, 2014

So you can get to know us better, we like to share a profile of one of our team members every few weeks. After all, a company is only as good as its people! This week we have a very special profile, President and CEO Jeff Huntley, as we celebrate his 20th anniversary of owning T-H Marine Supplies.

Jeff Huntley - T-H Marine 20 Years
T-H Marine Supplies President and CEO Jeff Huntley

It's been twenty years ago this month since Jeff Huntley leveraged a buyout of T-H Marine Supplies original founders, making him the President and CEO of the growing company. At that time, T-H Marine was a small manufacturer meeting the needs of a few boat builders in the United States. In the span of the last 20 years Jeff has taken T-H Marine Supplies from a small manufacturer to one of the largest and most diverse marine parts and accessory suppliers in the world serving every boat builder in the country, all while maintaining the family-owned and operated way of doing business.

Jeff's impressive achievements before coming to T-H Marine include being the valedictorian of the school of electrical engineering at Auburn University as well as earning a Masters of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. After Harvard, Jeff went to work for AT&T in sales and marketing for two years and then worked as a management consultant for Bain & Company, a worldwide leader in management consulting. While at Bain he worked with companies like Anheuser Busch, Continental Airlines, and Lockheed Martin to successfully execute various large scale business changes. The skills and knowledge picked up during these formative years would prove to be crucial to the expansion of T-H Marine in the future.

The 1990's and 2000's were marked by continual change and growth under Jeff with two companies, Innovative Plastics and CMC Marine, being acquired by T-H Marine. Realizing that the growing company would soon run out of manufacturing space, Jeff moved T-H Marine in 1997 from its original location on Celtic Circle in Madison to a new facility in the Jetplex in nearby Huntsville. This move opened up even more possibilities and T-H Marine was soon growing more than ever before. The move also allowed Innovative Plastics to be kept at the original T-H Marine location on Celtic Circle, where it still operates today supplying the hunting, marine, medical and a variety of other industries with high-quality plastic injection-molded parts. Innovative Plastics also remains the largest supplier of T-H Marine parts, something that truly sets T-H Marine apart from the competitors.

In the 20 years since Jeff took over as President and CEO, T-H Marine's growth hasn't slowed down one bit. As you now know, T-H Marine continues to grow by acquiring exciting companies and product lines that fit in with the scope of the company's other offerings. Under Jeff's leadership T-H Marine has continued to be an industry leader in product innovation and acquisition. In 1994 T-H Marine employed a total of ten people and had a manufacturing space of about 20,000 square feet. In 2014 those numbers have ballooned up to approximately 150 employees spread through three companies and more than 125,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Alabama alone. It's hard to imagine such a dramatic growth ever happening, much less being sustained, without Jeff Huntley at the helm of the T-H Marine ship.
